- Day 3: Shanghai to Chengdu by FlightDiscover Tranquil Temple and Artistic Shikumen Alleys
We will leave Shanghai this afternoon. Morning is your last time to visit Shanghai! Follow the guide to explore the pure land in the bustling city, the Jade Buddha Temple. Founded in 1882, the current Jade Buddha Temple is divided into two main parts: the front courtyard and the back courtyard. We mainly visited the front yard, which was the original site of the Jade Buddha Temple. The two famous jade Buddha statues here were brought back from Myanmar during the late Qing Dynasty. Understand their facts from your tour guide's explanation.
Tianzifang was renovated from the only Shikumen architectural complex in Shanghai and is a creative work base for many artists. You can find small shops selling vintage glasses and old-fashioned music boxes, as well as trendy clothing stores from Hong Kong. Strolling in the old alleyway, admire the intricately arranged red tiles on the roofs, cracks and green moss on the walls, filled with the scent of old Shanghai.
After lunch, we take a plane to Chengdu, the land of abundance. Upon arrival, the local driver will pick you up and check you in at the hotel (no tour guide in Chengdu today).
