At around 08:30 AM, your private English-speaking guide and driver will pick you up from the Chengdu downtown hotel, and your amazing guided Chengdu day tour begins!
First, go to visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, which is well known for the protection and breeding of the endangered giant pandas. The base is definitely a highlight for visitors to Chengdu. There are adorable pandas everywhere. You will watch them eating bamboo, playing with each other, and sleeping. Your guide will lead you through the huge area, share some information about the pandas, and help you take amazing photos.
After that, enjoy lunch at your own expense. In the afternoon, be guided to visit Dufu Thatched Cottage. Dufu (杜甫) is one of the most achieved poets in the Tang Dynasty (618-907). He lived in the Mid-Tang Dynasty when the dynasty turned from prosperity to decline. So, most of his poems reflect the sufferings of normal people and alarming social facts. His great poems win the fame Sage of Poetry for him. The cottage was his former residence, and you can enjoy its pastoral style.
The following stop is Wide and Narrow Alley, which has a long history and dates back to the Qing Dynasty. Now the old alleys have been converted into one of the top attractions in Chengdu. Strolling along the streets, you still can see many well-preserved Qing Dynasty buildings. In addition, savor some local delicacies. As a UNESCO City of Gastronomy, Chengdu will surprise you with its delicious food.
Today’s tour ends with a relaxing walk in People’s Park, a popular amusement site among local people. There are some cultural relics and historic steles in the park that bear the city’s history in the past century. If you are interested, your guide will be very glad to explain them to you.
