At around 08:30 am after breakfast, our English-speaking tour guide and driver will pick you up from Chengdu downtown hotel, and your amazing exploration begins!
Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is a must see for those visiting Chengdu for the first time. The base holds over two hundred and forty giant pandas (data as of 2024), where they rest and breed. It is now the worlds largest artificial breeding center for pandas. There are beautiful spots designed for the pandas where they can sleep, play, and eat their yummy bamboo. The panda museum has interactive experiences where guests can learn about the survival status of the panda species population. With a bit of luck, you might also see little panda babies.
Lunch will be at your own expense (Your guide will recommend some local specialties according to your taste).
In the afternoon, drive for around 2 hours to visit Leshan Giant Buddha, the largest cliff carved statue in China. It was started to be carved in A.D. 713, Tang dynasty, and completed in A.D. 803, spending 90 years in total. The reason to excavate was that the local people suffered from the flood each year because of its special location where three rivers meet here. There was a monk named Haitong who made up his mind to help the local people and started this huge work.
You will be surprised at how the ancient people made such a huge Buddha in the old times when you see its real size up close. Also, you can pay on site to take a boat ride for a panoramic view of the Buddha (optional). After the visit, drive you back to your hotel in Chengdu downtown.
